U.LEIRIA - MACCABI NETANYA UEFA CUP

Realizado o sorteio da ultima pré-eliminatória da Taça Uefa, a nossa União poderia ter beneficiado de mais uma alguma sorte no seu adversário, passámos ao lado do Lokomotiv Sofia da Bulgária, do Anorthosis Famagusta de Chipre, Rabotnicki da Macedónia e dos croatas do Slaven Kopriniza, no entanto as bolas ditaram uma longa peregrinação até Israel, para defrontar o Maccabi Netannya, segundo classificado no ultimo campeonato israelita.

Neste momento ainda não será possivel fixar com certeza a ordem dos encontros, mas pelo sorteio, jogaremos primeiro em casa no dia 16 de Agosto.

Certo é, que é desejo de todos nós, que a equipa demonstre a mesma garra com que abordou o encontro com o Hajduk, carimbando o passaporte para a primeira ronda da Taça Uefa.

Nunca ouvi falar de tal equipa, tal como eles provavelmente nunca ouviram falar em nós, mas prevejo dificuldades!

o adeversário é um desconhecido mas obviamente que não são toscos e temos sempre de contar com as dificuldades externas como clima, pressão dos adeptos, estado da relva, qualidade da arbitragem, etc por isso vamos com calma. mas é obvio que se os nossos jogadores quiserem mesmo ganhar então passamos concerteza!
poderá até calhar uma viagem quase simultanea com outro clube português para israel e se houver fretar (penso que é assim que se diz) de algum avião então os preços de viagem são mais baratos.

In the first team playing:

Luis Marin - Defender and captain of the Costa Rica national team which hasn't missed one minute of game in the last two world cups. Marin is record holder in appearances in Costa Rica with 123 team appearances in the national team. Marin is a quiet guard, cold, logical and calculated, with an excellent position and a fantastic comprehension of the game.

Liran Shtrauber - The goalkeeper arrived in the summer of 2006 from Maccabi Tel Aviv, where he played for the last seven years. Shtrauber is a veteran goalkeeper and specializes in one on one situations and has a good control over goal space. He made 6 appearances in the past wearing the uniform of the Israeli national team and played with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the UEFA cup and in the Champions League. Shtrauber is considered to be one of the best goalkeepers in Israel and he belongs to the Israeli national team squad.

Amir Taga - He is the midfielder for the Israeli u-21 national team. Taga grew up in the youth department of Maccabi Netanya and over the last years has taken a permanent place in the team squad. He his a player that is undergoing constant improvement, has a good technique and works in the center of the field, manages to intercept a lot of balls and join behind the offensive players. Taga scored the winning goal to the net of theFrench Olympic team, a goal that took the Israeli team to the European Championship.

Itai Shechter - He is the striker of the Israeli u-21 national team. Arrived to Maccabi Netanya in the summer of 2006 and signed a 3 year contract with the club. He was wanted in many major league teams but chose to sign with Netanya. He is a fast player with an exceptional technique who seeks the goal all the time. Shechter is considered to be one if the great promises of the Israeli football for the years to come and is very loved by Netanya's crowd

Deddi Ben Dayan - The left winger arrived in the summer of 2006 to Maccabi Netanya from the Colorado Rapids from the MLS. Deddi Ben Dayan played in the US for a season and a half, scored 8 goals and is considered one of the west coast team's favorite players. Deddi Ben Dayan has 16 performances for the Israeli National team and many goals in the major league. He has great talent, good mind, strong left kick and fantastic positioning.

Tamir Cohen - The excellent defensive midfielder arrived in Netanya during January 2007 from Maccabi Tel Aviv. Tamir Cohen is the son of the former player Avi Cohen that coached in Maccbi Netanya and also played for English club Liverpool. He grew up in Maccabi Tel Aviv and made some appearances with the team in the champions league, where he played against Bayren Munich, Juventus and Ajax. Cohen has 25 appearances for the u-21 Israeli national team. He is considered to be though, strong, has a strong kick from long distance and he is known as one who is not afraid to tackle and threaten the goalkeeper.

Avi Strul - The defender arrived to Maccabi Netanya in the summer of 2006 from Maccabi Tel Aviv and signed up for 3 seasons with the club. Strul is considered to be the center of defense and on his record there are appearances with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the UEFA cup and in the Champions league. Strul has one appearance for the Israeli national team and he belongs to the squad. He is a tall defender with a good header for the game and he is characterized as a silent and efficient football player.

Samed Awudu (Okocha) – The top scorer of the team. He came to Maccabi Netanya in 2006 from the Slovakian team F.C. Senec, and before that he played for Hearts of Oak from Ghana. He Belonged to the national youth team of Ghana. He finished 2006-2007 season as the best goal scorer of the team with 10 goals and 5 assists to goal

Another players from the squad are Ofir Hain, Zeno Bundea, Golan Chermon, Sebastian Rozental, Gal Nir, Rif Mesika, Dele Yampolsi and Almog Cohen.

I can tell you we're a young team, created in 1966, and in the last years became one of the top 10 teams in the competitive Portuguese League.

José Mourinho (Chelsea) launched is career in our club.

In the last few years we've achieved good results in the Intertoto Cup, and a presence in the Portuguese Cup Final with FcPorto, wich gave us the place in the UEFA CUP a few years ago.

I strongly believe that this team will go far in this year competition.

we are a tam with a great history (the first israeli team that taked the intertoto cup)

but this was before a long time (1970-1980) , somthing like 23 years we didnt taked any trophy.

before a year ago , Daniel Jammer came and buy us , and we finish second in the table.

Leiria is a small city located in the center of Portugal, but we have a lot to offer to our visitors. Make sure you visit our nearby beaches.

Don't worry about the ticket. I'm sure it wont be to expensive. Maybe 5/10 euros.

Unfortunately I can't go to Israel in the second match, and I doubt that there will be any leiria fans there.

We would be really interested however in receiving a tip concerning a possible TV broadcast of the game in Israel (Israeli TV). I can advance, that the game here in Leiria will surely have no TV coverage.
Concerning our squad we do have some very good players,(Cadu as cleaverly refered, is one of them, but also Eder, our Right back and Jessui the strong, technical brasilian striker) the same as you surely, so we'll see at the end of August who has the best side
If you do travel to Portugal, you'll surelly be welcome in our city, although I doubt there will be many Leiria fans attending the match, cos it's holliday season here you know...

A União de Leiria venceu esta tarde o Abrantes, da II divisão, em jogo de preparação. Renato foi o autor do único tento da partida aos 62 minutos.
Ainda no primeiro tempo, a União de Leiria poderia ter chegado à vantagem, mas na conversão de uma grande penalidade, a castigar falta de Wagner sobre Toñito, o lateral direito Éder permitiu a defesa ao guarda-redes abrantino Passarinho.

e jah encontrei no youtube cenas de atentados na cidade de netanya, mas pelo que parece vamos provavelmente jogar na cidade de haifa, pk o estádio do netenya é mto mauzinho....e haifa ainda fica a uns km de netanya, por isso pode ser que não seja tão forte o apoio....

da nossa parte não sei se teremos lah alguém, custa-me a crer, com o preço das viagens para lah! :S

UDL had some great players, one of the best is the Goal-keeper Helton, that is now playing in FC PORTO, he's actualy the first keeper in the Brazilian Nacional Team, another one is the striker Derlei which was one of the best scorers in the UEFA cup, when FC PORTO won the UEFA Cup, and also one of the best when they've won the Champions League.

Our club has started this season 1 month ago, we've played one oficial game for the intertoto cup, which we won 4-2 (agg.) agains Hajduk Kula from Servia.

Our League will start in 21 of August, 5 days after the first game with you, and also a home match. Our team seems to me that may be in a much better condicion at time of the first leg.

I've seen that you have an old stadium, and not in a good shape, i've hear that the second leg can be played in diferent stadium, i've hear that could be in Macabi Haifa Stadium, is that true?

We's have a "brand new" stadium, it make 4 years in september and was built because of the Euro 2004, it has 24000 seats, completly covered, it's a very colorfull stadium, it's like you hate it or love it!

Tell us a bit more about of the start of your's club, and about your fans.

Hope to see some of you here in Portugal, i'm sure all of you will enjoy, except the result from the game! =P

O adversário da União de Leiria na segunda pré-eliminatória da Taça UEFA é um estreante nestas andanças. Pela primeira vez na sua história, o Maccabi Netanya entra na discussão por um lugar na prova europeia, fruto do segundo lugar conquistado na liga do seu país, Israel.

we have a very colorful fans , and very emotional.

The start of our season is not good. the tam didnt bring any stars players that the fans will liked to see , and right now their is a conflict between the fans and the team.

we had been played only one official game , yesterday in israeli toto cup. we finish in the result 0-0 , we were the better side but still out attack is very weak. our new 2 foregin didnt came yet and will not play against you.

we will have another game in the toto cup this Saturday against Maccabi Haifa and after that the game against you.

A escolaridade obrigatória são 9 anos e quando concluídos dá para perceber o inglês básico aqui escrito. Estás desculpada em relação aos 30 mil que querias no estádio. Nem que desses 1 € a cada adepto lá terias 30 000. Mas para 11 anitos não está mal, optimismo para mudar o mundo. Se lá tiveres um décimo disso, são 3000, podes não ter jeito para matemática "also", já era uma enchente.
